Perfectionism.

See also procrastination, overthinking and cause of much unnecessary delay and stress in life.

For example my poor attempts at writing this. I have tried to write this a million times and been thwarted by the thoughts in my noggin. So, now I have over planned this to the point of madness, I have forced myself to just put words on the screen for a few reasons.

  1. Life is short. As someone close to me once said whether or not you do something…we all die anyway so you may as well do what you want.
  2. I’ll never be happy with it and I accept that. I happily accept that I will always expect better of myself but that is possibly the most ridiculous reason to actually never do anything.
  3. THERE IS AN EDIT BUTTON. So if anything results in an existential crisis…nearly everything can be tweaked. If it can’t be tweaked…see point 1.
  4. I read Yes Man years ago and my inclination to say yes to things increased dramatically as a result.
  5. Imagine if people that inspired you had said…nah…maybe later…and had never done the thing?
  6. I blooming hate hypocrisy.

There are probably more but, before I get into Instagram life quote territory, I’ll stop as I’m sure you get the jist. The reasons to do something outweighed not doing something. I believe that is often the case in most situations.

This thought process is (probably) how I ended up living all over the world, getting some of the jobs I have been lucky enough to have, meeting some of the amazing people I have been blessed to know and have the life I have now. Winning.

So stay tuned as I (finally) start working the way I want to work with people as a marketer, studying for that PHD in marketing that I have been planning (for too long) and if you know me and are thinking…’but Dani I thought you were an animal kid that never grew up and were working with animals and horses’? Well YOU ARE RIGHT but that is a whole other side of my life that you can enjoy here (if you like Instagram) and here (if you like blogs).

This thought process (specifically no. 5) actually inspired a marketing concept that I bashed together which you can see heresee…you should always do the thing because you don’t know what might come of it! It was like an instant reward. Thanks brain.

Right enough rambling. Time to go get stuff done!
